My initial idea that I was playing around with was forgotten space. as I started to research this, about abandoned houses and the ruined bars I had discovered during my trip to Europe, I became interested in the idea of how these spaces still consisted of so much energy and personality; this led me to the spaces in which people visited and spray painted. How these could be turned into beautiful pieces of work e.g. the work of local Sheffield artists Kid Acne and Phlegm and how they can be so influential and have an impact upon the whole 'feel' of a building.
Choosing to express themselves in such spaces brought these buildings to life, and hence renewed them with energy. Therefore this is where the name of my project came from; energy in these forgotten spaces were never lost, just hidden away until something came about to renew it. This idea became very personal to me and so I chose to express all of these through my project photos, showing work of spray painters that inspired me; Evo and Phlegm.
